Finishing Basics with Giavanna

This workshop is all about finishing. We will practice weaving in ends as to not leave bulk in your finished object, how to pick up stitches evenly so you don't have a wonky edge or any pulling in your fabric, seaming two pieces together, buttonhole basics (measuring and strategy), and sewing on your buttons. This class will move quickly, so please come prepared with your homework.

Advanced Beginner

Skills required: knit, purl, bind off in pattern

Please Knit 3 swatches prior to class and bring to class:

• Two 4X4 (bound off and blocked)
• One 3X3 (on the needles NOT bound off)
• Two 4X4 stockinette stitch swatches in DK or Worsted weight yarn to practice seaming and picking up the buttonband, and weaving in ends
• One swatch (on the needles) to practice weaving in yarn as you go
• Extra yarn for either swatch to practice at least one buttonhole technique (optional)
• Tapestry needle, crochet hook
