Steeking is a shortcut used to knit garments such as sweaters in the round without interruption for openings or until the end.

Using the pattern, Nordic Bloom by Caitlin Hunter, This class will introduce you to different methods of steeking (crochet, sewn steek, and felted) and some do’s and don’ts to avoid unfortunate situations. By the end of the class, the goal is to complete the vast as a lovely steeked Cardigan.

Steeking Workshop, 2- day workshop, Adventurous beginner +

Skills required: Knit, purl, two color colorwork

2 Saturdays, October 3rd + 31st 1-3 pm. in the shop with Giavanna.

Please knit three 4X4 swatches using the chart provided*

*We will email you the chart once you sign up for the class, or you can stop by the shop and pick it up.

Note: non-superwash yarn OR a yarn with a high wool content preferred

  • Three swatches (to practice the three different types of steeking)
  • Crochet hook
  • Scissors (the smaller, the better. Fabric scissors work great too)
